Gardaí have seized electronic devices and documents in connection with the discovery of cocaine worth more than €4 million along the Donegal coastline.

Officers carried out searches in Dundalk, Co Louth, on Thursday morning, but no arrests were made.

The operation is part of the Garda investigation into the discovery of the packages of cocaine on beaches in north Donegal last July.

Gardaí were initially alerted to the discovery of a package at Ballyhiernan Beach in Fanad, Co Donegal on July 19th at 8.30am.

Half an hour later, gardaí were alerted by the public to another similar package at Tramore Beach.

The packages weighed approximately 60kg. Both packages were recovered and the crime scenes were examined.

Gardaí said they are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
