A member of the Gardaí has been attacked in Dublin overnight.

A member of the Gardaí has been attacked in Dublin overnight.

The incident happened at a park in the Kimmage area between 7.45pm and 8.45pm.

It is understood he saw an incident at a green area in Ravensdale Park near the KCR and was attacked by an individual when he went to investigate.

The Garda suffered a blow to the head and other members of the force came to his aid before he was taken to St James' Hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and there have been no arrests.

The Garda is based at Sundrive Road station, and Gardaí at Crumlin are investigating.
