Gardaí have seized a gun, ammunition and drugs worth nearly €500,000 in separate searches around Dublin.

Gardaí have seized a gun, ammunition and drugs worth nearly €500,000 in separate searches around Dublin.

Three men were arrested and detained under the Drug Trafficking Act.

In the first search at Sean McDermot Street in central Dublin, a handgun and 10 rounds of ammunition was discovered.

Heroin with a street value of €100,000 was seized as well as €40,000 worth of valium tablets and €45,000 in cash.

Two men - a teenager and one in his late 20s - were arrested at the house and were being detained in Pearse Street garda station.

A follow-up search was carried out in Balbriggan where heroin valued at €300,000 was seized as well as €20,000 worth of valium tablets, drug paraphernalia and €3,000 in cash.
