A French fishing boat has been detained off the coast of Cork for alleged breaches of fishing regulations.

The ship was boarded by naval officers from the LE William Butler Yeats, 110 nautical miles south of Mizen Head.

The Defence Forces say the vessel is being escorted to port where it will be handed over to gardaí.

It is the sixth fishing vessel to be detained by the Naval Service this year.
