Forecasters predicting some pleasant weather for next few weeks
Ireland is set to enjoy some mixed but generally pleasant weather over the coming weeks, according to many forecasts.
Those hoping for a full-blown heatwave will be disappointed, but predictions the rest of July look pretty good – although frustratingly cloudy on the weekends.
Met Éireann has predicted “scattered outbreaks of rain through the day”, with “just light passing showers” on Sunday and “becoming milder once again into next week”.
“Beyond that temperatures are likely to improve further, warm in sunshine, but overall quite mixed.”
Revellers heading to the Longitude festival in Marlay Park from July 18-20 face a nervous wait and Metcheck have provided a typically Irish forecast – sunshine and showers.

Starting warm on Friday, the weekend is set to become gradually colder. A significant 5.7mm of rain has been predicted for Saturday afternoon.
Accuweather has little comfort for festivalgoers, although it’s optimistic about the week in general, forecasting some decent sunshine and highs of 21°C in Dublin.
The rest of the month looks so-so for the city, with little rain, but a lack of sunshine too, according to Accuweather.com.
Cork looks set for some lower temperatures – but a little more sunshine.
It seems that Galway will have a lot of cloud to put up with, but it should be pretty warm at least.
Long-range weather forecaster Ken Ring was upbeat about August in his May 1 update, saying: “Warm temperatures may occur … around the end of July coinciding with the full moon, as well as August. The amount of sunshine is likely to be below normal… Another dry spell for all may be the … first week of August, when mostly fine days are anticipated despite the odd passing shower.”
The August Bank Holiday looms large on many a social calendar, with Castlepalooza, Indiependence and the Waterford Spraoi International Street Arts Festival among the many outdoor events taking place around the country.
All events should safely avoid “washout” status – but there seems to be little chance of balmy conditions at this stage.

Metcheck predicts an overcast but mainly dry long weekend, with decent temperatures of around 19°C.
Those looking to get away could be better off waiting a couple of weeks or so, when temperatures around the country are set to climb into the low 20s, and cloudy skies give way to long spells of sunshine.

This means good news for Kerry, which is set to host the Puck Fair and Rose of Tralee during this prolonged period of sunshine.
