Detector dog helps Revenue sniff out major cannabis seizure

Revenue officers have seized herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €34,000 with the aid of a detector dog named Bailey.

Over 1.7 kilograms of the drug was discovered in four separate parcels which originated in Canada and the United States during routine operations at Dublin Mail Centre today.

The parcels were declared as items such as “Lego Starwars X-Wing”, “Fortnite Nerf Gun”, “A Book” and “Marvel Backpack”.

All were destined for delivery to addresses in Dublin and Kildare.

The seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operation to target the importation of illegal drugs.

Investigations in the case are ongoing.
