The Dublin Cycling Campaign is calling on Fingal County Council to improve a road where a cyclist was killed in North County Dublin yesterday.

Dublin Cycling Campaign Chairperson, Kevin Baker says that stretch of road is incredibly dangerous, adding that the man was the third to die on that stretch of road this year.

"The number of people killed on our roads is higher this year than it was last year by nine, despite there being less traffic on our roads generally.

"The council need to start doing something about it. It's a dangerous road and it needs to be fixed."

Yesterday's incident coincided with the launch of National Bike Week, which was postponed due to Covid-19.

Bike Week aims to encourage people to cycle instead of using cars or public transport in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

The campaign website also has tips for cyclists on how to remain safe on the roads.
