Courts Service: Judges are trained on rape cases
A Courts Service spokesman says Ireland's judges do undergo training in relation to rape cases.
It follows comments from the head of the Rape Crisis Centre, Ellen O'Malley Dunlop, who said no judges had taken up their offer of education programmes in the area.
Ms O'Malley Dunlop was responding to comments made in court by one judge who said he did not believe a rape victim in one particular case had suffered a "profound psychological effect".
The Courts Service says there is ongoing training for judges which covers a range of topics, including the issues around sexual assault and rape.
