An hour's sleep was lost on Saturday night as the clocks switched to Daylight Saving Time, pushing them forward by one hour.

Every year, the clocks are put forward one hour on the last Sunday of March, meaning it remains bright later into the evening.

The clocks then revert back to standard time on the final Sunday of October – which this year falls on Sunday, October 27th – by being put back one hour.

The changing of the clocks, whether forward or backwards, happens at 1am.

The European Parliament previously voted in favour of ending Daylight Saving Time, but no progress has been made on implementing the decision.
