Gardaí arrested about 80 people at this year's Oxegen music festival, about the same number as last year.

Gardaí arrested about 80 people at this year's Oxegen music festival, about the same number as last year.

Forty-five people were detained for public order offences, while one person was arrested for assault.

Seventeen others were detained by gardaí at the concert site in Punchestown, Co Kildare for possession of drugs.

More than 20 people were arrested en route to the festival, following finds of small quantities of drugs in searches of coaches and cars.

Gardaí said that the number of arrests was largely the same as last year.
