Poor old Wayne Ronayne can't even drown his sorrows in his local over not being mayor anymore - he's been banned from all 36 pubs in his town for the next six months.
Just 40 days after taking office, Ronayne stepped down as the mayor of Gosport in England due to an unfortunate incident during a night out in June.
Mr Ronayne, a Conservative councillor, had been out with family and friends celebrating his appointment as mayor when he was asked to leave The Star pub on Gosport's High Street.
Local news reported that an argument had broken out after the group was told they could no longer be served and police were called.
A Facebook page calling for his resignation was set up and currently has 258 likes.
Mr Ronayne told the BBC that he was disappointed that he would have to stand down and that "inaccurate press reports" were responsible for damaging his reputation.
"There was no argument. We left quietly and peacefully," he said.
"I proceeded home as sober as I arrived".
A spokesman for JD Wetherspoon, which owns the pub said the group had "behaved badly":
"From our point of view, whether you're the mayor of Gosport or a regular person, if they behave badly we do not want them back in the pub".
Wayne's appeal against the decision by Gosport's Pub Watch to ban him from all 36 pubs in the town was turned down and a new mayor will be found in within the week.
Presumably, the new mayor will celebrate quietly at home.
