Pfizer is to close one of its manufacturing plants in Cork, with the loss of 136 jobs.
The site at Little Island will be shut before the end of next year.
Pfizer says this decision is based on a global effort to align manufacturing capacity.
They also point to the fact that many of their drugs are coming off patent, a factor highlighted previously as a threat to the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland.
Last year, the company shed 177 jobs in Cork.
Today's announcement will see manufacturing moving from Little Island to the company's other site in Ringaskiddy.
Pfizer say they hope to sell the plant, but success is not guaranteed.
