Construction workers have been forced to abandon repair work in the Catholic Short Strand area of east Belfast after coming under attack from loyalists.

Construction workers have been forced to abandon repair work in the Catholic Short Strand area of east Belfast after coming under attack from loyalists.

The workers were repairing houses that were damaged in previous loyalist attacks across the so-called 'peaceline' separating the two communities.

Sinn Féin’s Joe O’Donnell said the police failed to intervene to protect the workers.
