ISEQ in positive territory

The ISEQ index of Irish shares continued on its upward trajectory this morning, rising 29.18 points to 7342 by 11am.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares continued on its upward trajectory this morning, rising 29.18 points to 7342 by 11am.

All the financial heavyweights were in positive territory. AIB rose 8c to €18.43 and Anglo Irish Bank rose 14c to €12.66. Both Bank of Ireland and Irish Life and Permanent rose 7c to €13.47 and €17.00 respectively.

Bookmaker Paddy Power rose €10c to €12.20.

Pharmaceutical company Elan suffered one of the day's heaviest losses, falling 36c to €11.21, over 3%.

Low-Budget airline Ryanair rose 3c to €8.21.
