A music channel set up by a young Irish businessman will soon air on all Irish digital platforms including UPC Ireland, Smart Vision and Magnet.

Cork man James Hyland set up the station Bubble Hits which targets the 16-34 year-old market.

The station, which was set up last August, is already available to more than eight million homes in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The channel beams into nearly 800,000 homes in Ireland.

Since January 2007, Bubble Hits has steadily grown its average monthly reach by 35%.

The channel has non-stop music and shows such as Glenda Gilson’s own daily show 'Glenda’s Showbiz Gossip'.

James Hyland said: “Bubble Hits has been getting such a great reaction from everyone who has been watching it on Sky. We’re so proud of the station and it’s just awesome that more Irish people will be able to watch Ireland’s only dedicated music channel on these new platforms.”

Vern Kennedy, CEO of Magnet Networks said: “Magnet is delighted to have secured Bubble Hits. Our customers will be able to enjoy Bubble’s up-beat, modern music mix from June 1, when they will have access to a host of new channels on the platform.”

Caroline Healy, Smart Vision development manager, said Smart Vision was delighted to begin offering their TV subscribers Bubble Hits.

“We have every confidence that this dedicated music channel will prove enormously successful.”
