37 Ulster Bank jobs at risk
Thirty-seven jobs are to at risk with the closure of a number of Ulster Bank branches.
The Irish Bank Officials Association said it had been informed 14 branches are to close in the Republic in the first three months of next year.
A further 10 branches will shut in Northern Ireland, but that will not result in net job losses.
The announcement is in line with a previous declaration that 40 Ulster Bank branches would close by the end of 2016.
The bank said it expects some job losses, but that staff would be invited to apply for redeployment.
"Banking has changed significantly over the last few years as more and more of our customers are using digital technology to bank with us where and when it is convenient for them. As a result, only 13% of transactions happen in branches in the Republic of Ireland," the bank said in a statement.
The job cuts will be made in the form of voluntary redundancies.
The branches earmarked for closure in the Republic are Ashbourne; Athboy; Athy; Ballinrobe; Castleblayney; Castlerea; Clones, Croom; Ferbane, Loughrea; Manorhamilton; Moville; Roscrea; and Wicklow.
In the North, the branches to close are Aughnacloy; Crumlin Road, Belfast; Donaghadee; Dundonald; Gortin; Newcastle; Newtownhamilton; Portstewart; Randalstown; and Tandragee.
