Two more people have been confirmed with the swine flu virus in the UK today, taking the total to 122.

The latest cases are both adults in England. One is from London and the second is from the East of England.

The Health Protection Agency said the source of infection for the two latest cases remains under investigation.

Of the total UK cases, more than half (66) are in the London area.

The latest diagnosis takes the total for the East of England to 12.

Margaret Chan, the head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) yesterday said swine flu was a “sneaky virus” which was likely to keep spreading.

“This is a subtle, sneaky virus. It does not announce its presence or arrival in a new country with a sudden explosion of patients seeking medical care or requiring hospitalisation.

“We expect it to continue to spread to new countries and continue to spread within countries already affected.”

NHS London said the latest case in the capital is a woman from Islington.

“The HPA is investigating the source of the infection,” a spokesman said.
