The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft breaks apart shortly after lift-off.

It is the second consecutive supply rocket to be destroyed. However, NASA says those on board the space station have sufficient supplies.

Bill Gerstenmaier from the agency admitted it was a setback, but said the agency was staying positive.

"It's important to realise that through these failures we can learn more and come back stronger and get prepared to keep pushing the envelope as we move into space," he said.
