Seven Red Cross workers have been kidnapped in northern Syria, a spokesman for the aid agency has said.

Seven Red Cross workers have been kidnapped in northern Syria, a spokesman for the aid agency has said.

Saleh Dabbakeh of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Damascus, said gunmen abducted the team near the town of Saraqeb in Idlib province.

He said six of the people kidnapped are ICRC staff workers and one is a volunteer from the Syrian Red Crescent.

Mr Dabbakeh declined to provide the nationalities of the six ICRC employees.
