'Islamist' shot dead by police in Canada

Police in Canada are investigating a suspected terror attack which has left a soldier dead.

A Canadian soldier died after being run over by a car - driven by a man who police say had recently become influenced by radical Islamists.

The soldier was one of two who were walking in a town near Montreal in Quebec today.

A man was shot and killed in a police chase after the car he was driving hit the two soldiers.

Police won't say for sure that the pair were deliberately targeted.

Authorities admit the 25-year-old suspect was known to them.

Canada's public safety minister says it's "clearly linked to terrorist ideology."
