Father hopeful of Knox appeal
The father of Amanda Knox says he is hopeful that a review of DNA evidence will help his daughter overturn her murder conviction, as prosecutors prepare their closing arguments in the appeals case of the American student on trial in Italy.
Curt Knox says he is thankful to the appeals court in Perugia for having granted the review, which casts doubt on much of the DNA evidence used to convict Knox. A verdict is expected at the beginning of October, capping the 10-month long appeals trial.
Knox and her one-time boyfriend, Italian Raffaele Sollecito, were convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering Knox’s British house mate, Meredith Kercher.
All three were studying in Perugia at the time of the murder in 2007.
