Detectives have released dramatic CCTV footage showing a hit-and-run victim struggling back to his feet after being knocked down by a car.
Nottinghamshire Police said it was “unbelievable” that the pedestrian escaped major injury when the Skoda Octavia mounted a pavement in Mansfield town centre.
The unnamed victim was hit on Leeming Street at around 4.45am on Monday April 6 after leaving the Rewind nightclub.
The dark-coloured Skoda also collided with an electric box before heading off in the wrong direction along a bus lane.
Its driver is believed to have been involved in an altercation with people outside a pub shortly before the victim was injured.
Detective Constable Kelly Holloway said: “Unbelievably the victim did not sustain major injuries and is currently recovering well.
“Had the car not struck the electric box this incident could easily have ended in tragedy. There are people in the video who witnessed what took place. We need to hear from them so they can help us find the person responsible.”
