British health officials have written to doctors warning them of an emerging threat of bird flu spreading from China.

Up to 126 cases of the H7N9 virus have been identified in the past month and 24 patients have died.

GPs are being urged to look out for flu-like symptoms in anyone who has recently returned from China or Taiwan.
