Baghdad: Bomb explodes near restaurant

A suicide bomber detonated himself near a restaurant frequented by Baghdad police this morning, causing an unknown number of casualties, initial emergency service reports said.

A suicide bomber detonated himself near a restaurant frequented by Baghdad police this morning, causing an unknown number of casualties, initial emergency service reports said.

The blast echoed through central Baghdad at about 9.45am local time, when police officers frequently stop by for breakfast.

Police Maj. Abdel-Hussein Minsef said three police officers and five civilians were killed in the blast and 19 others injured.
