West Ham re-sign Alex Song for another year

West Ham co-owner David Gold has announced that the club have re-signed midfielder Alex Song on loan from Barcelona.

Song, 27, joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal in August 2014.

And the Hammers have again landed the former Arsenal player on loan from the Spanish giants.

Gold tweeted: "It has just been confirmed. Alex Song has signed a season long loan deal to join West Ham. Welcome back Alex."

Cameroon-born Song made 31 appearances for West Ham in all competitions last season.

Earlier this year he announced his international retirement, citing a wish to focus on rebuilding his domestic career with Hammers.

Song, who joined Barcelona for £15m from Arsenal in August 2012, made 65 appearances for the Catalan side prior to his first loan switch to the Hammers in 2014.

He becomes West Ham's eighth arrival during the transfer window, joining goalkeeper Darren Randolph, defenders Angelo Ogbonna and Carl Jenkinson and midfielders Pedro Obiang, Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini and George Dobson at Slaven Bilic's team.

Song said he is pleased to be returning to Upton Park for a second spell.

"I am very happy," he told whufc.com.

"When I left I didn't know I would come back here.

"It was not easy but at the end of the day, the most important thing is I'm here now and I'm very happy. I feel at home, everything feels at home, for my family too, they're set up very well here. My kids are playing for West Ham academy.

"Everything was in a good place for me to come back here and I'm very happy to be here. It's a pleasure and it's like I never left here. I'm still here and I'm happy."
