Dundalk have cemented their place in history by securing a three-in-a-row of Airtricity League titles,
.The Lilywhites needed to beat Bohemians to seal the title with two games to spare and Brian Gartland’s 63rd-minute header proved the title-winning goal.
Dundalk held out for the 2-1 win which sparked scenes of jubilation among the 4,637 fans at Oriel Park.

Dundalk are the fourth club in League history to complete a hat-trick of titles after Shamrock Rovers, Waterford United and Cork United.
The win slightly eases Dundalk’s fixture headache ahead of a Europa League trip to Russia and an FAI Cup final against Cork City.

The result had looked in doubt after Mark Quigley’s first-half penalty – won in controversial circumstances by Keith Buckley – cancelled out Andy Boyle’s lead goal.
However Gartland’s goal was enough to make it an historic treble.
