WATCH: Footballer sent off after embarrassing play-acting

Sao Paulo footballer Luis Fabiano was rightly sent off for this ridiculous bit of theatre during a Copa Libertadores match last night.

It was a derby match against rival side Corinthians and Fabiano was one of three players who were shown red cards during the game.

His was certainly the most well-deserved of the three - the 34-year-old pretended to have been hit in the face to get opponent John Mendoza in trouble.

Watch the slow motion replay at 0:27 for the best view of the incident.

The referee quite correctly sent him off after the mortifying display, although Mendoza also received a red card for the incident.

To repeat - Fabiano is 34 years of age, let’s hope he was thoroughly embarrassed when he saw the recording of his performance after the game.
