Reid out of Ireland squad

Andy Reid has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad with a hamstring injury.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder suffered the problem in training this morning after coming on as a substitute in the previous night’s 3-0 friendly victory over Latvia.

A spokesman for the Football Association of Ireland said: “The Football Association of Ireland this evening (November 16) confirmed that Andy Reid has withdrawn from the squad and has returned to his club due to a hamstring strain suffered this morning in training.”

Reid was among a series of players being assessed today with West Ham defender Joey O’Brien due to have a scan on a hamstring problem and Sean St Ledger also a doubt for Tuesday night’s trip to Poland.
