Portsmouth are set to complete the signing of Panathinaikos striker Emanuel Olisadebe.
Manager Harry Redknapp claimed on Monday the 27-year-old, who recently had a short trial spell at Fratton Park, was unlikely to sign because “we need people who can come here and be ready to play”.
However, Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric told The Sun: “Olisadebe was here and he passed a medical.
“I have spoken to Harry and to the medical team and we are hoping to do a deal with Panathinaikos. We like him – he is a very good player.”
According to the report, the Nigerian-born Poland striker will sign on loan until the end of the season.
