The Argentina international appeared to stamp on Hazard's chest during a second-half flare-up that could result in a retrospective sanction.

The FA is awaiting the referee's report to find out whether Michael Oliver and his officials saw the incident, with the case going to the review panel that decides on unseen incidents if they did not.

Comprised of three ex-referees that do not confer or consult, they come back one-by-one with their decision with a unanimous view required for action to be taken.

It could lead Rojo to be hit with a three-match ban for violent conduct - a further blow to United with top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic serving the same suspension following retrospective action last week.

The striker was banned for catching Tyrone Mings with an elbow shortly after the Cherries defender landed on the back of his head, with the apparent stamp leading the FA to dish out a five-match ban.

The Rojo case is different but former England striker Alan Shearer and ex-United defender Phil Neville believe there could be retrospective FA punishment.

"They were having a right go at each the whole of the second half, Rojo and (Diego) Costa," Shearer told the BBC. "They were trying to wind each other up.

"There are lots of parts of Costa's game that I'm a big fan of, but I really don't like that side of it where he's trying to get players sent off.

"And that is a stamp (by Rojo). It wouldn't surprise me at all. He should have been sent off for that."

Put to Neville there is a danger of retrospective action, he said: "Definitely, I mean after what we saw last week at Old Trafford with Tyrone Mings, you'd think the FA would look at that."
