Goalkeeping howler leads to a terrible own goal

Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto had a day to forget in the Serie A yesterday.

The Brazilian’s team were taking on Cesena and winning 2-0 when he made a complete mess of a clearance and let his opponents back in the game.

A Fiorentina defender, Stefan Savic, knocked the ball back for Neto to clear away and it should have been a straightforward kick.

Somehow the goalie completely missed the ball - he turned and desperately chased it down, but was too late to prevent it rolling into the net.

Our sympathy is reserved for Savic, as it will go down as his own goal, which seems pretty unfair.

Luckily for Neto his side went on to win 4-1 so it wasn’t a costly error.
