FIFA is considering sanctions against the Republic of Ireland for including a reference to the 1916 centenary celebrations on their jerseys during a friendly in March, according to AFP.
FIFA are reportedly evaluating the jerseys won by the Irish team when they played Switzerland on March 25. The jerseys were embroidered with the words Éire and Ireland and both dates - 1916 and 2016.

FIFA does not approve the use of what it regards as “political” symbols on jerseys. This policy has been in the headlines in recent days because of FIFA's refusal to allow England and Scotland teams to wear the Remembrance poppy when they play on November 11, Armistice Day.
A spokesperson said "The disciplinary committee of FIFA is evaluating the matter" of Ireland's shirt.
England and Scotland have used the Irish jersey as an example in their negotiations with FIFA over whether they can wear poppies on black armbands when they play each other in the World Cup qualifier.
