Celtic v Barcelona announced for the Aviva Stadium

The Aviva Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for the pre-season meeting of Celtic and FC Barcelona.

The International Champions Cup clash between the sides was announced for Ireland’s national stadium on July 30 at a press conference this afternoon.

The competition sees major teams from Spain, Italy, England, Germany, France and Scotland meet across the globe in huge stadiums in pre-season action.

Premier League leaders Leicester City have been invited to play in this season's running of the tournament and they join the likes of European giants Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in the event.

It is the announcement of Celtic v Barcelona at the Aviva Stadium that will have caught the eye of Ireland soccer fans however, given that there is a large Celtic following in the country.

Supporters will also be hoping to see stars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar grace the field in Dublin for Barcelona.

Ticket details for the event have yet to be officially announced.
