Adam Rooney hopes to use tonight's top of the table clash with Celtic to force his way into Martin O'Neill's Euro 2016 plans.
Over the last nine months the Aberdeen striker has made it into the international squad but has still to win his first full cap.
Shining against Celtic tonight will do his case no harm with the sell-out Pittodrie clash a genuine six pointer.
A home win will cut the gap at the top of the table down to three points and crank up the pressure on Ronny Deila on the back of Sunday's League Cup semi-final defeat from Ross County.
If Celtic can come out on top tonight a nine point gap would kill off Aberdeen's title chances and take the heat off the hoops boss.
Rooney has scored 15 goals from 23 Premiership appearances and knows that making an impact tonight could have an international dividend.
“It would be brilliant to get to the Euros and any player would feel the same,” the striker admitted. “The only way I have a chance of getting there is by doing a job here and making sure I’m scoring goals.
“My focus is on doing that here and seeing where it takes us. I assume the better Aberdeen are doing, the better it is for me.
“We are on a good run. That is 10 games unbeaten in the league now and we have won six of them. Aside from the Hearts game in the Scottish Cup we have been playing consistently well.
“The team is confident, we are looking strong and we kept another clean sheet against Dundee.
“We know if we perform to our potential we can give anyone a game. We showed the standards we’re capable of earlier in the season when we beat Celtic.
“We are on a good run so we are looking forward to it and we are always confident going into matches.
“Even when we went through that bad patch earlier in the season we were still feeling confident going into games.
“We had a great start to the season and then had a period when we didn’t do so well. We probably got carried away with ourselves. But we are back to taking each game as it comes.
“Hopefully we can keep picking up the wins. We are better off now than we were this time last year. We are improving on last year and that is the main aim again.”
