Stud farm more than doubles fee for New Approach

New Approach’s stud fee has more than doubled for 2013 after a hugely successful first season for his progeny on the track.

New Approach’s stud fee has more than doubled for 2013 after a hugely successful first season for his progeny on the track.

His most famous son to date is Dawn Approach, trained like New Approach by Jim Bolger, and he went through his juvenile campaign unbeaten, culminating with success in the Dewhurst at Newmarket.

New Approach’s fee for the new stud season at Darley’s Dalham Hall will be £50,000, rising from £22,500.

Darley have announced fees for all 23 of their stallions, with Dubawi heading the roster at £75,000.

Exceed And Excel will command a fee of £35,000 at Dalham Hall, while Teofilo will stand at 35,000 at Kildangan Stud in Ireland. Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven’s Pass will stand at 30,000.

Sam Bullard, Darley’s director of stallions in Europe, said: “The Darley stallions have enjoyed another superb year on the racecourse.

“Dubawi has sired two Group One winners and Shamardal (50,000) has sired three.

“New Approach could not have made a better start to his stud career and Raven’s Pass is hot on his heels.

“Sepoy and Helmet, two of the world’s best racehorses to retire to stud in recent years, are a very exciting addition to our European roster, and at £15,000 and 10,000 respectively, we believe they represent tremendous value. We look forward to showing them to breeders in the new year.”
