Pittoni could make a welcome appearance at Aintree next month after fears he had suffered bad injury at Leopardstown on Sunday proved unfounded.

The talented six-year-old was dismounted by Barry Geraghty on passing the line after winning the Ballsbridge Hurdle.

Pittoni soon made a swift recovery, however, and was given a clean bill of health by a vet on Monday morning.

Trainer Charle Byrnes said of the Grade One-winning hurdler: “We had him checked over and it’s good news – everything is fine.

“He was lame straight after the race, but he walked off the horse ambulance and he was fine. We don’t know what the problem was, but he’s A1 now.

“We’ll probably have him ready for Aintree and go for the race (Aintree Hurdle) we won with Solwhit three years ago.”
