Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane says they could sense in the first half that last night was Ireland's night.

The LA Galaxy star wasn't used in last night's win in the Aviva over the World Champions Germany, but he said there was a feeling that the Republic were destined to win.

"I think when we got the first goal and I sensed in the first half that they (Germany) weren't playing as free-flowing football as they have.

"I think we limited them to certainly to the chances that they are used to getting, but when they are missing chances like that (Thomas Muller's miss), you always believe that this could be your night."
