Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren will make a late decision on midfielder Moussa Sissoko ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal.
The France international has missed the last two games with a groin problem, but has made a quicker than expected recovery and returned to training this week.
Striker Papiss Cisse is also back in contention after sitting out the 4-1 Capital One Cup victory over Northampton through illness, while full-back Daryl Janmaat will hope for a return to league action after serving his one-match ban and new signing Florian Thauvin is in the running for a first league start.

Danny Welbeck (knee) and Jack Wilshere (leg) are set to return after the international break but will both miss the trip to St James’ Park. Tomas Rosicky remains a longer-term absentee after knee surgery.

Manchester City are without striker Wilfried Bony for the visit of Watford in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.
Bony suffered a cut leg in training and has been pictured wearing a protective boot but he is expected to be fit after the upcoming international break. Midfielder Fernando (groin) should also be back for the next game against Crystal Palace on September 12.
Full-backs Pablo Zabaleta (groin) and Gael Clichy (ankle) remain on the sidelines, with the latter likely to be out another six to seven weeks. New signing Nicolas Otamendi, who did not play at Everton last week as he awaited his work permit, is still not available.

The Uruguayan defender had to wait until Tuesday’s Capital One Cup tie against Preston for his debut as he served a suspension left over from his Napoli days - and was promptly sent off to earn a fresh three-match ban.
Other than Britos and long-term absentee Joel Ekstrand (knee), coach Quique Sanchez Flores will pick from a full-strength squad.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is hopeful of picking from the same squad which secured the club’s first win in the Barclays Premier League.
The Cherries secured a 4-3 victory at West Ham last Saturday, and while Howe revealed his side suffered a “couple of knocks” after their Capital One Cup victory against Hartlepool, he added there were no major injury concerns ahead of Leicester City’s visit.
Harry Arter, who has a groin injury, remains sidelined.

Joe Dodoo, who scored a debut hat-trick at Gigg Lane, is travelling to Bournemouth and could make the Foxes’ bench while Leonardo Ulloa is pushing to start after playing in mid-week.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood could miss several players against Sunderland through illness.
The manager has refused to name those suffering but remains hopeful they will be available for the visit of the Black Cats.
Adama Traore is a major doubt, though, after the former Barcelona winger limped out of the Capital One Cup win over Notts County on Tuesday with an ankle injury and has not trained.

Bojan Krkic could make his first Barclays Premier League appearance of the season in Stoke’s clash with West Brom on Saturday, while fellow playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri is in line for his home debut.
Potters boss Mark Hughes made nine changes to his starting line-up for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup victory at Luton and is likely to recall most of those who were left out – including record signing Shaqiri – but Bojan may be retained after making his long-awaited comeback from injury in the game.
Hughes must also make a decision about forward Jonathan Walters, who came into the first XI and scored on Tuesday amid uncertainty over his future. Peter Odemwingie (hamstring) and Ryan Shawcross (back) remain sidelined.

Terry was sent off in the win at West Brom, with Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma likely to line-up in central defence, as Mourinho bids to ensure his record of one loss in the league at Stamford Bridge continues.
Victor Moses and Oscar missed the Baggies clash with undisclosed injuries and could again be absent, but Brazilian Kenedy could make his debut after completing his move.
