Michael Conlan will headline the card at Madison Square Garden on pro debut

Michael Conlan's professional debut has been confirmed for Madison Square Garden.

The former amateur world champion and Irish Olympian had already confirmed that his first fight as a professional would be on St Patrick's Day next year after signing-up with renowned American promoter, Bob Arum.

It's now been confirmed that Conlan will headline the card at the iconic New York venue.

Arum told Ring TV that “thousands of people are going to be flying in from Ireland to New York to watch it.

“It’s going to be an unbelievable event.

“I think Michael is going to be a major star in the order of a Barry McGuigan.”
