Jim McGuinness suggests improvements to provincial championship fixtures to help club game

Jim McGuinness has recommended a tighter running off of the provincial championships in order to facilitate club games.

The former Donegal manager has suggested playing more games over the same weekend, freeing up time for club fixtures.

McGuinness, who now works for Celtic, said: "Why can we not play a game on Saturday and if anybody wants to go to the game on Sunday, play the game on Sunday as well?

"Do the same the following week and then the following week and the two semi-finals in the one weekend and the final.

"It's a month and it's not eight weeks. Why can we not look at situations like that? There's four weekend's that are given right back to the clubs right away.

"It's not rocket science."
