Former world boxing champion Jermain Taylor has been arrested following a shooting at his Arkansas home.
Taylor, 36, the undisputed middleweight champion from 2005-06, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and first-degree domestic battery after shooting his cousin and at his cousin’s friend.
Police said the cousin was in hospital in a serious condition and the other man was not injured. Their names were not released.
Lt Carl Minden of Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department said the two men had gone to Taylor’s home in Maumelle, a suburb of Little Rock, and an altercation broke out before Taylor grabbed a gun and opened fire.
Lt Minden said the nature of the dispute was being investigated.
An after-hours phone call to Taylor’s lawyer was not immediately returned.
