Graeme McDowell now sits at the top of the leader board at eight-under on day two of the Irish Open in Fota Island.
England’s Robert Rock shares it with him after starting the day at four-under.
McDowell teed-off at three-under and six birdies and one bogey have him in a very strong position after 15 holes.
England’s Paul Casey is playing with McDowell and is currently at six-under, having begun at two-under.
Former champion Shane Lowry is the third golfer in that group, but is enjoying a less than successful day. He finished yesterday at level-par and remains there after 15 holes.
He bogeyed the 18th hole after losing a ball in the trees after an earlier one on the 13th, but picked up birdies on 2 and 4 with his group beginning the day on the back nine.
Peter Lawrie is currently at two-under having been at that score overnight.
Of the remaining Irish, Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington are teeing off together at 12.50pm, followed by Darren Clarke at 1pm.
Irish teenage amateur Gavin Moynihan, who carded a very impressive two-under yesterday, starts at 2.30pm.
Overnight leader Finland’s Mikko Ilonen gets his round underway at 1.10pm.
