Lots of jokes as former Liverpool player Dossena is arrested for shoplifting

It turned out to be a mix-up involving his son, but that didn’t stop the jokes flying on Twitter - led by a former Liverpool legend.

Lots of jokes as former Liverpool player Dossena is arrested for shoplifting

Italian footballer Andrea Dossena spent two brief seasons playing for Liverpool between 2008 and 2010.

Even for Liverpool fans his time at the club wasn’t that memorable - barring one shining week when he scored first against Real Madrid and then put away this beauty against arch-rivals Man United in Old Trafford.

After stints with Napoli and Sunderland he now plays with League One side Leyton Orient.

The player and his wife were both arrested in London on Tuesday afternoon, accused of shoplifting at posh department store Harrods.

It appears to have been nothing more than an embarrassing mix-up - The Mirror report the couple were detained after their young son put a book in their bag without them noticing.

But that hasn’t stopped Twitter having a field day with jokes, led by none other than Liverpool Legend Dietmar Hamann.

Others couldn’t resist a cheeky swipe using stereotyped Liverpool fan jokes.

Poor Dossena can't catch a break, even supporters of his current club Leyton Orient joined in.
