IRB bring Tywin Lannister on board for a pep talk

The IRB recruited a face familiar to Game of Thrones fans for their new ad promoting next year’s Rugby World Cup.

The tournament will be held in England and, with tickets going on sale later this month, the IRB chose an English actor to star in their new ad.

Charles Dance, best known for his portrayal of ice-cold patriarch Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, gives a rousing pep talk to a gathering of rugby stars past and present, as well as fans and backroom staff.

“There will be pain and there will be blood”, says Dance, channelling his inner Lannister.

“We’re going to raise the roof on every stadium from the north-east to the south-west.”
