A lawsuit involving the world’s number one golfer Rory McIlroy and his former agent has been deferred until later today.
The star, fresh from a weekend victory in Dubai, is suing Conor Ridge’s Horizon Sports Management over the cut his firm was taking from his on and off course earnings.
The bitter row over €5.6m in fees has taken the pair all the way to the big business division of the High Court.
At a packed court number one in the Four Courts in Dublin, Judge Brian Cregan agreed to give lawyers for both sides time to open discussions.
Paul Gallagher, senior counsel for McIlroy, told the court the case was due to last eight weeks and lawyers for both sides were prepared to open talks on some of the disputes.
“This is a case, as you know, scheduled to last for eight weeks,” he told the judge.
“There are many issues in the case and we are seeing if we can narrow the issues.”
The case is due to resume at 2pm this afternoon.
