WATCH: Hawk-Eye goes missing as Brogan awarded dubious point

Referee Joe McQuillan came in for a fair amount of criticism following yesterday’s draw between Mayo and Dublin, but should the umpires and Hawk-eye also be under the microscope?

Many viewers felt it was obviously wide and couldn't understand why the score detection system Hawk-Eye wasn’t used. The official in charge of Hawk-Eye is supposed to alert the referee if a point is awarded incorrectly.

Gaelic fans were also surprised at the lack of discussion around the point, both during the match itself and on last night’s Sunday Game.

It was only one of several incidents that triggered a lot of debate, including an apparent headbutt by Philly McMahon on Aidan O'Shea, and the dubious penalty awarded to Paul Flynn.

This game seems set to be remembered more for the talking points than the football - hopefully the same won’t be true of the replay.
