TJ Reid added to Ireland squad for Shinty test in Croke Park

Newly-crowned Hurler of the Year TJ Reid has been included in an 18-strong panel for this year's Hurling/Shinty International Test against Scotland at Croke Park.

Matthew Whelan of Laois will captain this year's Irish squad, while Reid is the only representative from All-Ireland champions Kilkenny.

Clare's David McInerney, Waterford's Maurice Shanahan and Zane Keenan of Laois are among the other familiar names in the panel.

Last month Keenan scored 0-8 and Shane Nolan notched two goals as Ireland reduced a 3-14 to 0-4 half-time deficit to a 3-15 to 2-8 loss to Scotland at the final whistle.

Galway’s All-Ireland semi-final hero Shane Moloney also retains his spot in the squad, while Tipperary’s Patrick Maher, a late replacement for Shanahan in Inverness, is left out.

The game will be played before Ireland’s International Rules game against Australia on November 21.
