Richie Hogan offers ‘helpful’ advice to Dublin squad for trip away from Croker

It’s official, the Dublin footballers and their fans are taking a road trip.

For the first time since 2006 the Dubs will play a championship match outside of Croke Park.

They will begin the defence of their All-Ireland title in Kilkenny’s Nowlan Park in June, where they will face the winners of Laois and Wicklow.

In view of their unfamiliarity with life outside the M50, Richie Hogan decided to give them some travel advice.

The Kilkenny All Star tweeted Bernard Brogan, Jack McCaffrey and Philly McMahon to give them directions to the venue, adding that they should “just give way to cows crossing”.

McCaffrey channelled his inner Ross O’Carroll Kelly when he answered, telling Hogan, “I have tendered my resignation from intercounty football”.

Meanwhile McMahon was more concerned with having the right equipment, while the rest of the country worried about the idea of McMahon getting his hands on a hurley.
