Officials had a difficult job removing the burly fan from the pitch - it took the combined efforts of five stewards and other supporters to get him to leave.
The Central Competitions Control Committee had a range of penalties available to them - from a minimum eight-week ban to a total expulsion.
The Sun report today that they have imposed a 48-week suspension, considered in GAA regulations to be a one-year ban.
Mayo GAA would not confirm the suspension and referred breakingnews.ie to the Central Council, who were not immediately available for comment.
If correct, the relatively severe punishment will be seen as sending a strong message to GAA fans that pitch invasions and abuse of officials will not be tolerated by the organisation.
