Patrickswell dominate Ballybrown to capture 19th Limerick SHC title

Patrickswell 1-26 Ballybrown 1-7

Patrickswell had 19 points to spare over neighbours Ballybrown in securing the club's 19th Limerick SHC title at the Gaelic Grounds this afternoon, writes Eoghan Cormican.

The win moves the club to the top of the local roll of honour alongside Ahane.

The game as a contest was over early in the second-half as Patrickswell outscored their opponents by 0-9 to 0-1 upon the resumption to move 1-19 to 0-6 clear.

They led by 1-10 to 0-5 at half-time, with Kevin O'Brien striking the all-important goal at the end of the first quarter.

Ballybrown struggled desperately at the other end and hit 12 first-half wides.

They'd manage only three scores in the second-half, with only four players getting on the scoresheet in total.

Patrickwell's Cian Lynch finished with three points from play, while Diarmuid Byrnes and Aaron Gillane both nailed five frees each.

Barry Foley, 39, who collected his seventh county championship medal, hit two points from midfield.

Gary Kirby's charges now progress to the Munster semi-final on November 6 where they will meet Glen Rovers.
